Aquenzo Limited brings together adults who love Ireland’s countryside. We’re creating community through hiking, birdwatching, astronomy, and sketching — activities that connect you with nature and with each other.

How Aquenzo Limited Started

We weren’t formed by people who wanted to run a business. We were formed by people who wanted to spend more time outside.

Back in 2019, a handful of us were frustrated. We’d finished our busiest working years but found it hard to meet others who shared the same interests. The hiking groups we found were either too competitive or too touristy. Birdwatching clubs seemed closed off. Nobody was organizing simple sketching sessions in the countryside. So we started organizing them ourselves — just a few friends, some notebooks, a good walk.

That first group of eight became twenty. Then fifty. We weren’t trying to build something massive. We just kept showing up, kept inviting people, kept finding new spots around Ireland worth exploring. Now we’ve got hundreds of people who’ve joined us — and honestly, it’s still surprising how many adults in their 40s, 50s, and 60s were waiting for exactly this.

What you’re getting isn’t a corporation pretending to care about outdoor recreation. It’s a community that actually exists because we all genuinely want to be there. That makes everything feel different.

The Activities We Run

Aquenzo Limited organizes four main types of outings throughout the year. Each has its own rhythm, its own rewards, and its own community.

Year-Round

Countryside Hiking Meetups

Guided walks across Ireland’s best trails. Distances range from 8 to 18 kilometers. We’re not rushing. The point is the walk itself — the conversation, the landscape, the coffee stop halfway through.

Seasonal

Birdwatching Excursions

Spotting warblers, raptors, and migratory birds across coastal and inland sites. You don’t need expensive equipment or expert knowledge. We’ll teach you what we know.

Monthly

Amateur Astronomy Nights

Gathering in dark-sky locations to observe planets, constellations, and meteor showers. We’ve got telescopes available. Mostly we just stand there amazed.

Weekly

Plein Air Sketching Outings

Bringing sketchbooks to scenic locations. Doesn’t matter if you’ve never drawn before. The goal is capturing what you see — not creating gallery pieces.

Who Joins Aquenzo Limited

We’re specifically built for adults 40-60 who want to stay active, curious, and connected.

You’re the person who’s worked hard, raised kids maybe, settled into routines. But you didn’t settle into being boring. You’ve got energy, curiosity, and time now to actually use it.

You might’ve hiked in your twenties but stopped for a while. Maybe you’ve always wanted to learn sketching but never had the space for it. Perhaps you’re newly retired and looking for reasons to get out of the house. Or you just moved to Ireland and want to meet people who actually know the country.

What’s essential: You’re willing to show up, be friendly, and try things. Everything else — fitness level, artistic ability, nature knowledge — doesn’t matter. Honestly, it’s irrelevant.

We’ve had teachers, engineers, doctors, retired journalists, small business owners, artists. What connects them isn’t their backgrounds. It’s that they all chose to spend their time with us instead of scrolling at home.
